American Museum & gardens Baths

This tote bag design is inspired by a historic early 20th-century poster featuring Uncle Sam and Britannia standing side by side — a powerful symbol of the enduring relationship between Britain and America. The imagery reflects the shared heritage celebrated by the American Museum & Gardens in Bath.

The original artwork was carefully restored and thoughtfully adapted for embroidery. Fine details were simplified into stitchable forms, and the historic red, navy, and gold palette was translated into layered threadwork to preserve the character of the original illustration. What was once printed ink becomes textured stitching, adding depth and dimension to the design.

Embroidered onto heavyweight natural canvas with navy trim, the finished tote combines history with function. Durable and timeless, it serves as both a practical everyday bag and a meaningful keepsake.

By transforming archival art into contemporary craft, this piece carries forward a story of transatlantic connection — reimagined for today.

Columbia Logo options and creation

The design process began by exploring variations on classic Columbia-style graphics, experimenting with different logo layouts and incorporating subtle lacrosse elements—sticks, line details, and athletic typography—to give the piece a sport-forward identity. Multiple sample logos were sketched and tested to balance school pride with clean, wearable design.

From there, we refined the final direction: a timeless crown paired with an athletic jersey number on the front for a personalized touch, and a bold graphic “C” on the back to anchor the sweater with classic collegiate energy. Each element was carefully scaled and digitized to ensure clarity, proportion, and strong visual impact on the knit fabric.
